Her name is Gift. She was born in Africa where she hasn't had access to corrective medical care until now. Her foot is severely turned in as a club foot, and is already hard and roughly scarred. The fingers on one hand are almost gone, on the other they are deformed. Above Gift’s right knee, the flesh is constricted, as if pulled tight by a rubber band. Tell tale Amniotic Band syndrome. Stella, Gift’s Mum, says: "Immediately after she was born, we saw this little girl as a Gift from God."
Naomi is 19 months old, and suffers club feet. Naomi needs a lot of help to fix her feet - a special operation will cost about $3,000. In this picture she is walking on her toes, and the side of her foot.
Nice's feet started to turn inward and Grace didn't know what to do. His feet have been corrected through serial casting thanks to his Child Rescuer Sponsor.
15 year old Racheal arrived for treatment with very complex clubfeet. She had surgery twice, including tendon transfers and Plaster of Paris casting. After 4 months in rehabilitation she was discharged doing very well and extremely happy with the treatment she received.
Rodrick’s feet are twisted upside down. Rodrick not only manages to walk like this, but he likes playing football with his best friend, Simeon, who lives in the same village.
This picture of Victor looks an awful lot like the kind of baby portrait you might see here in Canada. What you wouldn't see, however, is a Canadian child with untreated clubfeet. There is good news for Victor. Thanks to a Forgotten Child Rescuer Victor will have corrective treatment. Next year, if we take another picture, Victor's feet will be flat on the ground.
