This is my son's story. Evan was born with amniotic band syndrome affecting his left hand and bilateral clubfeet. Here I share our experiences through five surgeries.
She had a number of surgeries all before the age of 2. To correct the club foot, we visited the orthopedic surgeon once a week from the time she was three weeks old until she was three months old. Each week the orthopedic surgeon would slightly stretch her foot, more and more outward, and would cast it to keep it in place.
Ultrasounds showed that Isabella would be born with clubfoot but at birth she had more signs of Amniotic Band Syndrome: some of her fingers and toes were amputated, two toes were together, one foot was longer than the other, missing toe nails, and she had a few skin tags.
Fortunately Kaitlyn's Dr. who was not using the Ponsetti method of treatment went away on holidays and a Dr. from Toronto's Sick Kids hospital came to fill in. He was able to begin the Ponsetti method of treatment and thanks to this doctor, Kaitlyn can avoid surgery!
Initially Logan wasn't given proper treatment for clubfeet but now Logan is being treated at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children using the Ponsetti non-surgical approach.
